The Madera County Agricultural Commissioner's office provides
many programs to promote and protect the agricultural economy
of Madera County, as well as that of the state. Most of these

- Information for growers and the general public pertaining to
pesticide use and reporting as well as worker safety issues.
Pest Prevention -
Information on the county's efforts to control unwanted pests
from establishing themselves in the county.
Pest Management -
Information on the county's efforts and resources for controlling
certain established pests that are too widespread for eradication.
These pests include rodents and certain noxious weeds.
Nursery and Seed Inspection
- Information on county efforts to prevent the spread of damaging
pests through infested nursery stock, as well as efforts to ensure
compliance with seed standards.
Fruit, Vegetable, and Egg
Quality Control - Programs to enforce maturity, quality,
labeling, and packaging standards for fruits and vegetables as
well quality and labeling standards pertaining to eggs.
Organic and Direct Marketing
Enforcement - Information on the certified organic producer's
program, as well as certified farmers markets and direct marketing.
Apiary Services - Information
on county programs for protection of bees, and colony strength
programs.
Crop Statistics
- Every year the county surveys growers for yield information
to generate the Madera County Crop report. This report
is a representation of Madera County agriculture and is
seen by people and departments all over the state. The
annual crop report is an important tool for tracking trends
in the agricultural market, and is also essential in determining
crop loss estimates attributed to weather related events.
