Voting for the First Time in Madera County?

All First Time Voters MUST show I.D.

 

The Help America Vote Act (HAVA) was signed into law on October 29, 2002, and it states that “all First Time voters must show acceptable I.D. prior to voting for the first time.” This I.D. requirement is limited to:

  • A Current and Valid Photo I.D.
  • A passport
  • An Employee Identification Card
  • An Identification card provided by a commercial establishment
  • A credit or debit card
  • A Military ID card
  • A Student ID card
  • A Health Club ID card
  • An Insurance Plan ID card
  • Any other document specified in writing by the Secretary of State that is prepared by a third party in the ordinary course of business that includes the photograph and name of the individual presenting it.

If no photo ID, other acceptable forms of proof are:

  • A utility bill
  • A bank statement
  • A government check
  • A government paycheck
  • A document issued by a governmental agency
  • A sample ballot
  • A voter notification card
  • A public housing ID card
  • A lease or rental statement or agreement
  • A tuition statement or bill
  • An Insurance plan card
  • Discharge certificates, pardons, or other official document issued to the voter in connection with the resolution of a criminal case, indictment, sentence, or other matter
  • Senior citizen discount cards issued by public transportation authorities
  • Identification documents issued by governmental disability agencies
  • Identification documents issued by government homeless shelters and other temporary or transitional facilities
  • A drug prescription
  • A Tax return
  • Property tax statement
  • Vehicle registration
  • Any other document specified in writing by the Secretary of State that is prepared by a third party in the ordinary course of business that includes the photograph and name of the individual presenting it.
