The board of supervisors hereby establishes the office of public defender for the county. The office of public defender shall commence January 1, 1972. (Ord. 356 §§ 1,3, 1971).

The public defender shall be appointed by the board of supervisors and not elected by the people of the county. (Ord. 356 § 2, 1971).

The office of public defender shall consist of the following:
A. The public defender;
B. The deputy public defender;
C. An investigator;
D. A stenographer.

The salaries of each position for the public defender’s office, as set forth in this chapter, shall be established in accordance with county ordinances. (Ord. 356 § 5, 1971).

The positions set forth in this chapter, for the office of public defender, shall be held in accordance with the civil service provisions in this title. (Ord. 356 § 6, 1971).
