2.31.010 Expenses incurred in removing and keeping body.
Whenever he or she takes custody of a dead body pursuant to law, the
sheriff-coroner shall charge and collect from the person entitled to control and
disposition of the remains, as specified in Section 7100 of the Health and
Safety Code, the actual expense incurred by the sheriff-coroner in removing the
body from the place of death and keeping the body until it is released to the
person responsible for its interment.
A. The charge for removal of a dead
human body shall be as follows:

1. During regular business hours (eight a.m. to five p.m. Monday through
Friday)

2. Nonregular business hours

B. The charge shall be collected by the sheriff-coroner or his or her
agent pursuant to this section and Government Code Section 27472. (Ord. 505-B

2.31.020 Expenses incurred in embalming.
A. Whenever the sheriff-coroner takes custody of a dead body pursuant to
law, he or she may embalm the body and charge and collect a fee from the person
entitled to custody of the body.
B. The fees shall be as follows:

2.31.030 Standards for recruitment and training for sheriff’s department personnel.
For purposes of applying for state aid pursuant to Chapter 1 of Title 4
(commencing with Section 13500) of Part 4 of the California Penal Code, the
county of Madera hereby adopts and shall adhere to the standards of recruitment
and training established by the California Commission on Peace Officers
Standards and Training of the California Department of Justice for peace officer
personnel of the sheriff’s department while receiving any such state aid.
