The sheriff of the county is authorized and empowered to sell at public auction, to the highest bidder, for cash, any article of personal property, except a bicycle, unclaimed for a period of six months, and any bicycle unclaimed for a period of three months. (Ord. 308 § 1, 1966).

Before making any such sale, he shall give notice of the time and place of sale, which notice shall briefly describe the article or property to be sold and shall be published in a newspaper of general circulation in the county, once, not less than five days before sale. (Ord. 308 § 2, 1966).
