7.28.010 Definitions.
A. “Commissioner” whenever used in this chapter, means and
refers to the agricultural commissioner.
B. “Person” means and
includes individuals, corporations, associates, partnerships or
trustees.
C. “Rodents” includes species of the ground squirrel,
gophers, field mice, rats, and rabbits. (Ord. 160 § VII, 1934).
7.28.020 Infested premises deemed nuisance.
Any and all premises in the county infected or infested with rodents are
hereby expressly declared to be a public nuisance. (Ord. 160 § I,
1934).
7.28.030 Nuisance abatement.
Whenever any such nuisance shall exist at any place within the county, it
shall be the duty of the county agricultural commissioner to cause said nuisance
to be at once abated by eradicating, or by controlling, or by destroying the
rodents, and the reasonable expense incurred therefor shall be a county charge.

7.28.040 Inspection.
It shall be the duty of the commissioner, whenever he deems it necessary,
to cause an inspection to be made of any premises within the county for the
purpose of ascertaining whether said premises are infected or infested with
rodents. (Ord. 160 § III, 1934).
7.28.050 Control, regulation and enforcement authority.
The commissioner shall have the power and authority to prescribe the
methods to be used to eradicate or control or destroy said animal pests to
employ the necessary labor for such work, and to prescribe rules for the
qualifications of any person who enters his employment for said purposes, and to
enforce such rules which he may establish. (Ord. 160 § IV,
1934).
7.28.060 Manufacture and sale of poison barley.
The commissioner shall have the power and authority to manufacture and
sell poison barley and such other materials as are convenient or necessary in
destroying rodents. All such materials shall be furnished at cost to any person
upon satisfactory assurance to the commissioner that such materials are to be
used on premises within the county for the purpose of controlling or destroying
or eradicating said animal pests. (Ord. 160 § V, 1934).
7.28.070 Violation--Penalty.
The penalty for violations of this chapter shall be as prescribed in
Chapter 1.12 of this code. (Ord. 378 § 2(part), 1973: Ord. 160 § VI,
1934).
