Chapter 13.69 COMMUNITY SEWER SYSTEMS--STANDARDS OF SERVICE

13.69.010 Generally.

13.69.020 Principles of design.

13.69.030 Total capacity for sewage flow.

13.69.040 Average daily sewage flow.

13.69.050 Lot density.

13.69.060 Exclusion.

13.69.010 Generally.

In applying the minimum requirements found in this chapter for design and construction of a sewer system, consideration shall be given to the quantity of sewage, the adequacy and dependability of the facilities, the physical conditions known to exist at the time and place of installation, and the probable operating requirements. (Ord. 279 § 110, 1963).

13.69.020 Principles of design.

All collection facilities shall be of adequate size and capacity and shall be correlated with treatment and storage facilities to meet the minimum requirements of Section 13.69.030. All facilities shall be designed structurally to withstand the physical stresses to which they may be subjected and shall be free from structural and sanitary hazards. (Ord. 279 § 111, 1963).

13.69.030 Total capacity for sewage flow.

The total minimum required sewage capacity for any given service area under consideration or unit sewer system shall be the sum of the minimum residential, commercial, industrial, institutional, and ground water contributions. The minimum hourly sewage capacity requirement shall be three times the average daily sewage flow. (Ord. 279 § 112, 1963).

13.69.040 Average daily sewage flow.

The average daily sewage flow in gallons per day in the community sewer system shall be obtained by the following:
A. Residential. The minimum sewage contribution shall be 100 gallons per capita per day.
B. Commercial. The minimum sewage contribution shall be 2000 gallons per acre per day or based upon the following table when applicable:
Type of occupancy
Contribution(gpcpd)
Stores, offices, and small business
20
Hotels and motels
100

C. Industrial. The minimum sewage contribution shall be 3000 gallons per acre per day.
D. Institutional. The minimum sewage contribution shall be based upon the following table:
Type of occupancy
Contribution(gpcpd)
Hospitals
150
Schools (no showers), 8 hr. period
25
Schools (with showers), 8 hr. period
35
Recreational or summer camps
25

The county engineer shall be guided by, but may adjust, the quantities set forth in this section on the basis of local conditions. (Ord. 279 § 113, 1963).

13.69.050 Lot density.

The density per lot for residential purposes shall be determined from and be in harmony with Title 16, Subdivisions, and the zoning ordinance of the county. (Ord. 279 § 114, 1963).

13.69.060 Exclusion.

New collection systems and extensions to existing systems shall consist of sanitary systems only. Except under unusual circumstances, the use of community sewer systems will be limited to the collection of domestic sewage and ground water infiltration within allowable limits. (Ord. 279 § 115, 1963).
