Chapter 2.12 - PUBLIC DEFENDER7

2.12.010 - Office established.

The board of supervisors hereby establishes the office of public defender for the county. The office of public defender shall commence January 1, 1972.

2.12.020 - Appointment.

The public defender shall be appointed by the board of supervisors and not elected by the people of the county.

2.12.030 - Personnel.

The office of public defender shall consist of the following:

A.   The public defender;
B.   The deputy public defender;
C.   An investigator;
D.   A stenographer.

2.12.040 - Salaries.

The salaries of each position for the public defender's office, as set forth in this chapter, shall be established in accordance with county ordinances.

2.12.050 - Civil service compliance.

The positions set forth in this chapter, for the office of public defender, shall be held in accordance with the civil service provisions in this title.
