2.42.010 - Establishment of planning commission.

The Madera County planning commission, hereinafter the "Commission," is established.

2.42.020 - Commission membership and appointment.

The commission shall consist of five commissioners appointed by the board of supervisors. Each member of the board of supervisors shall recommend to the board one resident of his or her district for appointment by the board to the commission. Any change of residence by a commissioner after appointment shall not affect the commissioner's ability to serve.

2.42.030 - Term of office.

Each commissioner shall serve at the pleasure of the board of supervisors and, subject to the foregoing, shall hold office for a term of four years and until the appointment and qualification of his or her successor. The terms of the commissioners in office on the effective date of the ordinance codified in this chapter shall be as follows:

2.42.035 - Removal from office.

A commissioner may be removed from office at any time but only upon the recommendation of the member of the board of supervisors whose district the commissioner was appointed to represent and the affirmative vote of a majority of the board of supervisors.

2.42.040 - Vacancies.

Any vacancy occurring on the commission shall be filled in the manner prescribed by Section 2.42.020.

2.42.050 - Powers.

The commission shall meet regularly to discharge the duties and obligations conferred upon it by state statute and county ordinance and shall in all respects act in accordance with law. The commission may establish rules of procedure and the commissioners may select one of their number to serve as chairman.
