Madera County Adult Day Health Care Planning Council
A group of senior citizens and representatives of various agencies
formulate plans, and supervise applications and services for
Adult Day Health Care.
AIDS Advisory Board
This Board consists of members of the community representing
various agencies such as schools, medical staff, police, etc.
It serves in the capacity of an Advisory Board for disseminating
information to various community outreach programs.
Alcohol and Drug Abuse Advisory Boards
Members have a professional interest in, or personal commitment
to, alleviating problems related to inappropriate alcohol and
drug use in the community. Members review and evaluate the County's
Alcoholism and Drug Abuse Program budget and any amendments,
advise the County's Alcoholism and Drug Abuse Administrator on
policies, goals and operations of the County's Alcoholism and
Drug Abuse Program.
Fresno-Madera Area Agency on Aging, Board of Directors
Directors of the Fresno-Madera Area Agency on Aging set policy
for the agency and adhere to guidelines and directives of the
California Department of Aging.
Madera
County Arts Council, Inc.
Members consist of citizens with an interest, but not necessarily
participation, in all forms of fine arts. A primary function
of this Committee is the procurement of funds for allocation
to various forms of fine arts.
Cascadel Woods Property Owners' Association Board of Directors
Members are property owners who serve as an Advisory Board
to the Board of Supervisors on matters concerning Service Area
No. 21.
Chowchilla and Madera Cemetery District Board of Directors
Each Board consists of five members who reside within the
appropriate District. They are responsible for setting policy
for operation of the District, setting rates for services and
approving a yearly budget.
Chowchilla Water District
The Board of Directors consists of five members who are landowners
within the District. It acts as the governing board of the District.
Civil Service Commission
The Commission consists of five members appointed by the
Board of Supervisors to enforce and interpret the Civil Service
Rules, which govern the recruitment, examination and placement
of classified County employees.
Economic Development
Commission
This Commission is composed of a representative of Madera
County, the city of Madera, the city of Chowchilla and each
Chamber of Commerce to create and establish a public agency
with the expressed purpose of attracting and establishing
industry within the County. It disburses all forms of information
pertaining to the industrial resources of the County, attracts
industrial interest into the area, promotes and establishes
industrial and commercial relations, and recommends and encourages
the development of improvements needed by industries and businesses.

Emergency
Medical Care Committee
Members consist of individuals, occupying specific positions
as called for in the Emergency Medical Care Committee By-Laws,
who attend meetings and provide information on matters relating
to emergency medical services.
First Industrial Fire Protection District
It provides additional fire protection for the District.
Fish and Game Fine Committee
The Commission recommends expenditures and projects for the
preservation and propagation of wildlife and for natural history
education with funds derived from court fines from violations
of State Fish and Game laws.
Madera County Flood Control and Water Conservation Agency
Advisory Board
Members are appointed by the Board of Supervisors to study
flood and water problems in the County and to advise the Board
of Supervisors on their findings.
Grand Jury
The Grand Jury is a committee of 19 citizens appointed each year
by Superior Court, charged with inquiring into public offenses
committed or triable within the County and presenting such offenses
to the Court by indictment. The Grand Jury also inquires into
the management of all County offices, possible misconduct of
public officials and financial affairs of cities.

Ford Water District
The Board of Directors consists of five members who are landowners
within the District. It acts as the governing board of the District.
Juvenile Justice Commission
The Commission acts as an Advisory Committee and consulting body
to the Judges and Probation Department on Board policy for the
operation of the Probation Department, Juvenile Hall, and all
facilities administered by the Probation Department. Appointments
are made by the Judge of the Superior Court.
Local Agency Formation Commission (LAFCO)
This function is administered by the County Administrative Office.
The Commission's functions are to plan for the orderly development
of local government services, organizations and boundaries; to
prevent urban sprawl; to discourage overlapping of independent
taxing jurisdictions; to reduce local government service duplications;
to discourage the formation of a single-purpose, independent,
special district; and to develop and adopt sphere of influence
boundaries for local governments.
The formation, dissolution, or change in boundaries of any
local government (except school and maintenance districts) within
the County requires the approval of the Local Agency Formation
Commission.
The Commission is composed of five members [two County Supervisors,
two City Council Members and one citizen-at-large and two Alternate
members (one County Supervisor and one City Council Member)].
Law Library Trustees
There is, in each county of the State, a Board of Law Library
Trustees, which governs the Law Library. The Trustees meet monthly,
keep minutes and file an annual report and accounting with the
Board on the expenditure of funds derived from a portion of civil
filing fees paid to the County Clerk. Said funds are used to
maintain a legal library for public use.

The Commission acts as lead agency for transportation
planning and management activities which take place within

Lower San Joaquin Levee District
Members consist of seven residents of the District who conduct
the affairs of the Levee District in regard to maintenance and
operation.
Madera Irrigation District Board of Directors
The Board of Directors consists of five members elected by
the registered voters within the District. It is responsible
for the administration of the District. If no one runs for this
office, the vacancy is filled by appointment of the Board of
Supervisors.
Maternal, Child and Adolescent Health Board
The Board consists of twelve members who represent the community
to help identify health care needs and problems in maternal,
child and adolescent health and implement plans to meet those
needs.
Madera County Mental Health Advisory Board
The Board consists of members with an interest in community
mental health who provide recommendations to management in such
matters as: budget, County Plan, staff reductions, etc.
Mosquito Abatement District Board of Trustees
Members residing within District boundaries are appointed
by the Madera and Chowchilla City Councils and the Board of Supervisors
to act as the governing board of said District.
Newstone Water District
The Board of Directors consists of four members who are landowners
within the District. It acts as a governing board of the District.
Nutrition Committee
This Committee is comprised of health professionals and serves
as an information and consulting panel on nutritional educational
matters for members of the community.
Madera
County Planning Commission
The Planning Commission consists of five members representing
each of the supervisorial districts within the County with a
knowledge of Planning, Zoning, and Development procedures to
act on Rezonings, Special Permits, Plans and Appeals for overall
County development and make recommendations to the Planning Department
and the Board of Supervisors.
Recreation Commission
The Commission consists of five members, representing each of
the Supervisorial Districts within the County, and who have an
interest in County-owned property that is worthy of development,
to aid in the processing of forms to the State for special grant
funds.
Robert Wills Trust Advisory Committee
This Committee consists of seven members from the community,
including veterinarians, and serves to advise the County regarding
matters concerning animal control.
Bonita, Coarsegold, Chowchilla-Red
Top, Columbia and East Madera Resource Conservation Districts
Each Resource Conservation District consists of five directors
elected by citizens who reside within District boundaries. These
Directors are empowered to develop and carry out Natural Resource
Conservation Programs which affect their Districts and are aided
and encouraged by the State Resource Conservation Commission.
Resource Conservation Districts also receive technical assistance
from the USDA Soil Conservation Service. If no one runs for this
office, the vacancy is filled by appointment of the Board of
Supervisors.
Sequoia Area VIII Developmental Disabilities Board
The functions of this Board are to establish goals and programs
aimed at improving the quality of life and awareness of unmet
needs for persons with disabilities and advocate the development
and improvement of programs for the developmentally disabled.
Solid Waste Management Advisory Board
This Board studies solid waste in the County and makes recommendations
to the Board on collecting, transferring, hauling and burying
solid wastes and encouraging community programs in solid waste
management planning and enforcement, recycling, resource reuse,
energy recovery, litter control and public education and participation.
Suppression of Drug Abuse in Schools Advisory Committee
This Committee supports increased efforts of local law enforcement
agencies, working in conjunction with School Districts and County
Drug Offices, to suppress drug trafficking and prevent drug abuse
among school age children on and around school campuses through
development of innovative and model programs by law enforcement
agencies, schools and drug abuse agencies.
Madera County Waterworks District No. 2 Board of Directors
The Directors are landowners and taxpayers in the District.
They govern the operation and budget of said District.
