SOLID WASTE AND REFUSE
The County's solid waste disposal needs are provided for
at the Fairmead Sanitary Landfill and the North Fork Transfer
Station. The County owns the landfill and transfer station
and contracts out the operations with Madera Disposal Inc.
The current tipping fees are $43.00 per ton and a minimum
charge of $12.00 for pick-up trucks.
The landfill is located on approximately 160 acres just
West of Highway 99 at Avenue 22 and Road 19-1/2. The transfer
station is located on Road 274 near the Town of North Fork.
The landfill consists of the old portion of the landfill
(46 acres), the new expansion area (100+ acres) and the
Mammoth Material recovery Facility (MRF).
Residential collection services are provided by two exclusive
franchise collectors under agreements with the County. Madera
Disposal Inc. provides collection services in the valley
portions of the County, while EMADCO Disposal serves the
Eastern Madera County area.
