'THE HOMESTRETCH' Theatrical Release

'The Homestretch' follows three homeless teens as they fight to stay in school, graduate, and build a future. Each of these smart, ambitious teenagers will surprise, inspire, and challenge audiences to rethink stereotypes of homelessness as they work to complete their education while facing the trauma of being alone and abandoned at an early age. Each Mind Matters

The Each Mind Matters campaign is a statewide initiative to change the way people think about persons with mental illness. This video is an integral part of the campaign. It presents the real life stories of a broad range of people who have overcome the disability caused by mental illness and gone on to live healthy and productive lives. How long have you worked for the County?
 8 years.
What do you like most about your job? He loved being a social worker, working with all cultures in Madera.
Why did you decide to work for the County? He could relate to the people he was working with due to his own personal experience.
What is your most memorable accomplishment during your County career? His biggest accomplishment was helping others to obtain housing and have more productive lives.
When I'm not at work you can find me...Spending time with family.
What was your first job?  Co workers believe it was working in the fields.
What is your favorite food? Co workers remember him enjoying: Pan Dulce, chorizo & eggs and specially bear claws.
What is your favorite kind of music? Co workers believe he enjoyed: Marvin Gay and oldies.
What is your favorite sports team? Washington Redskins.
If you were to travel anywhere in the world for a dream vacation, where would it be? He enjoyed fishing, so anywhere he could do that.
Where do you see yourself in five years? Our dear co-worker and friend passed away 11/02/14.  He was well liked, happy and a complete gentlemen.  This is our agency's way of paying our respects and a tribute to his memory.  Farewell John.
