Spotlight - BHS

Chris Bates - BHS

Chris Bates - Spotlight How long have you worked for the County? Just over 3 years.
What do you like most about your job? I like connecting with people (clients, co-workers, partners in other agencies) in a genuine and authentic manner. I see this as a the foundation for my work in the County.
Why did you decide to work for the County? The timing was right. I had an interest in county mental health and Madera's offer was a good fit with my skill set.
What is your most memorable accomplishment during your County career? Learning to juggle the standard 8-5 and after hours crisis work.
When I'm not at work you can find me...All over. I tend to meander about like a real life Where's Waldo
What was your first job? Youth Decoy Agent. I enticed retailers to sell me forbidden goodies with my youthful charm.
What is your favorite food? Fruits, veggies and nuts. It's comforting to know I would be able to forage for a meal if I had to
What is your favorite kind of music? Folk. I like the simplicity and personal story-telling.
What is your favorite sports team? The San Francisco Whosie Whatsits.
If you were to travel anywhere in the world for a dream vacation, where would it be? I dont have a particular dream vacation...but I am partial to the redwood forests and the guld stream waters.
Where do you see yourself in five years? I like growing my clinical skills and taking on new endeavors. I can see myself teaching part-time or community organizing.
