Current Projects

  1. VSI/VDI – Madera County IT has begun analyzing the benefits and efficiencies of implementing Virtual Server and Virtual Desktop. It is anticipated that this will save the County, once fully implemented approximately $200,000 over the next 5 years
  2. Cloud Computing – The cost for software licensing has become extreme, and therefore the County is examining innovative methods to acquire and fund software upgrades and enhancements. These include the potential implementation of hosted/cloud based office productivity software suites which will reduce overall costs; decrease support time and avoid version deficiencies in future years
  3. CRM – Now that the County has implemented CRM, the IT department will make every effort to continue to expand this system to provide automated service delivery to departments and Citizens.

Madera County IT promotes the use of technology within County departments and agencies. Departments are encouraged to request technology enhancements on a regular basis. Department requests are formally reviewed to determine if the request has a positive impact on constituent services or represents an opportunity for service delivery cost reductions and savings. Once a project and associated budget has been approved, the IT department assigns an internal project manager to develop project documentation, and shepherd the project to successful completion.
