Tuberculosis Control (TB)

The goal of the Public Health Department Tuberculosis (TB) Control program is to control and eliminate TB in Madera County. Activities include countywide surveillance, community education, TB screening clinic, TB client contact investigation, case management, Directly Observed Therapy, and assurance of adequate treatment of all active cases and their identified contacts.

The management of TB cases, suspects, and contacts is a shared responsibility between: the patients, the medical community, and the Madera County TB Control Program. Access these sites for more information:

Madera County TB Screening Clinics

For hospitals or institutions that need to discharge a patient with active tuberculosis, download the Tuberculosis Discharge Planning Summary. California Health and Safety Code 121361 requires that a health facility, local detention facility or state correctional institution shall not discharge a person with active tuberculosis or suspected to have active tuberculosis without submitting a written treatment plan to the local health officer. Please use the form provided in the link above for this purpose.

Tuberculosis Skin Testing:

  • Madera Clinic

    • Every Monday, Tuesday, and Friday: 1:30 pm to 4:00 pm. By appointment only
    • Walk-in TB Skin Test Clinic every Wednesday 9:00 - 11:30 am and 1:30 - 6:00 pm No appointment needed
    Chowchilla Clinic

    • TB tests performed the third Tuesday of every month from 9:00 am to noon. By appointment only
    • Test to be evaluated the third Friday of every month from 9:00 am to noon. By appointment only
    Oakhurst Clinic

    • TB tests performed the Tuesday before the fourth Friday of every month from 9:00 am to noon. By appointment only
    • Test to be evaluated the fourth Friday of every month from 9:00 am to noon. By appointment only
