Benjamin Mendoza - Department of Corrections

ben How long have you worked for the County? I have worked for the Madera County Department of Corrections for five years. (2009 – Present)
What do you like most about your job? That every day is a new challenge, a learning experience, and an opportunity to make a difference in the lives of family, co-workers, and the citizens of Madera County.
Why did you decide to work for the County? After doing a tour of the Madera County Department of Corrections and seeing firsthand the team work and family life style that the officers and civilian staff had with each other made me feel like this was a great place to start a career and since this department was a representative of the County of Madera I felt like this county was a great place to work.
What is your most memorable accomplishment during your County career? In 2011 I received an Performance Endorsement Award from the Chief of Madera County Department of Corrections and the Special Operations Response Team Sergeant for my exemplary performance and willingness to go above and beyond for the Special Operations response team and the officers on the team.
When I'm not at work you can find me...Playing at the park with my two boys and my dog Tank.
What was your first job? Cashier for Rite-Aid.
What is your favorite food? Any kind of Mexican food or pizza.
What is your favorite kind of music? Jazz and Rock-N-Roll.
What is your favorite sports team? Football: San Francisco 49ers
Baseball: San Francisco Giants

If you were to travel anywhere in the world for a dream vacation, where would it be? Rio de Janeiro, Brazil for it’s awesome beaches and rain forest.
Where do you see yourself in five years? As part of the command staff here at the Madera County Department of Corrections instilling leadership qualities into all the new officers coming aboard and re-motivating the senior officers to take leadership roles by giving them new challenges.
