Welcome to the Madera County Library.  We are located at 121 N. G Street, Madera, CA 93637.  There are four additional libraries in Madera County in Chowchilla, North Fork, Oakhurst and Madera Ranchos.  The locations are listed above. Each library serves a diverse and unique population within Madera County offering a variety of services for their communities.

Our mission statement is “to provide balanced and up-to-date resources for the educational and recreations needs of its patrons, professional information service, electronic media, and a pleasant, safe, and clean environment.  Your library is dedicated to serving its patrons without discrimination.  Access to its collection is free of charge.”

Internet Access

WiFiWe have free Wi-Fi at the all five library locations for personal electronic devices.

Public computers with internet access are available at every branch with a one hour time limit. You need your library card for access. 

Inter-Library Loans

Madera County Library is a member of the San Joaquin Valley Library System (SJVLS), a consortium of 10 library jurisdictions from Merced to Bakersfield. As a member of SJVLS, Madera County patrons can borrow library items from a member library and have it delivered to your home library for the small fee of $.50.    This increases the amount of materials available. 


Databases that offer a wealth of information for auto repair, health issues, legal issues, hobbies, and in depth education research are available through our website.

We invite you to explore the library on-line, and encourage you to visit your local library. We are here to help you find the information and materials you seek.

You may return library items at any SJVLS library or use our book drop in front of the library. You may also renew items or check your account by going to, click on my account, enter you card number and pin number. You can now use Smart Pay to pay your fines online as well.


Friends of the Library

Each library has its own Friends of the Library group which offers support for programs, book purchases, special purchases, and community outreach.  The Friends of the Library is a non-profit, 501 (c) (3) organization of elected officers and members.  For more information contact your local branch. 

Additional Services

Federal, state, county, and local information, government documents, job opportunities, planning department information is available for public review at each library.  Local history and points of interest are also available. 

Meeting Rooms are available at the Madera, Oakhurst, and Chowchilla Libraries.  Call for availability.

Typewriters and copy machines are available at all branches.  Microfilm readers are available only at Madera, Chowchilla and Oakhurst libraries.

What do you like most about your job? The variety of duties and social contact with patrons.
Why did you decide to work for the County? I was on disability and looking for things to do, so I began volunteering at the Madera Library.
What is your most memorable accomplishment during your County career? Going from volunteer to full-time county employee
When I'm not at work you can find me...Enjoying doing house work and yard work
What was your first job? Cleaning my dad’s office floors
What is your favorite food? Chocolate
What is your favorite kind of music? Alan Parsons Project
What is your favorite sports team? Seahawks
If you were to travel anywhere in the world for a dream vacation, where would it be? Germany and Eastern Europe
Where do you see yourself in five years? Retired, but perhaps working part-time
