GIS Regionalization – The County’s GIS application will be made available to select governmental organizations over the next 12-24 months.

Mobile Workforce Implementation – The Mobile Workforce Pilot project was completed in May 2007. Since then Madera County has implemented mobile workforce tools for twenty three employees in a variety of agencies. This program reduces budget to task; increases productivity; increases accuracy of tasks and provides Madera County field employees with the opportunity to utilize technology to substantially increase production while reducing overall costs.

Business Process Analysis – The IT Department has embarked on a process of identifying and documenting many of the internal business processes for departments and agencies within Madera County using a combination of automated toolsets and direct interviews. This results in an objective view of the business process, with computerized simulations, which better enables directors and managers to identify areas of inefficiency and provide the foundation for practice improvements.

Microwave Radio Replacement – Due to frequency changes at the federal level, Madera County now must embark on a significant upgrade and or replacement of its existing radio infrastructure. This radio system hosts numerous operational groups from public safety to municipal transportation. It is believed that through this replacement the County will ultimately experience increased capacity, integrated data services and many other improvements which will greatly assist departments and agencies with fulfilling their departmental obligations.

Madera County IT promotes the use of technology within County departments and agencies. Departments are encouraged to request technology enhancements on a regular basis. Department requests are formally reviewed to determine if the request has a positive impact on constituent services or represents an opportunity for service delivery cost reductions and savings. Once a project and associated budget has been approved, the IT department assigns an internal project manager to develop project documentation, and shepherd the project to successful completion.
