The goal of the Yosemite / Madera County Film Commission is to bring new and repeat film, advertising and photography business into Madera County and service the needs of that business as required. To accomplish this, the film commission aggressively markets Madera County to the Southern California film industry as well as to advertising agencies and other organizations worldwide. The Film Commission develops, markets and disseminates information and has established a promotional and informational effort designed to attract the film industry and coordinate local activities in Madera County.
|
The Film Commission serves as liaison to appropriate governmental offices during actual film production, performs all appropriate research and background work related to determination of film industry plans and requirements and educates both local businesses and residents of the benefits of film production. The Madera County Board of Supervisors has declared "Madera County" to be film friendly and has simplifed all aspects of the permitting process.

Madera County has a long history of filming and offers a wide variety of locations; small midwestern looking towns, farms, cattle ranches, graveyards, farms, quarries, industrial sites and Yosemite National Park and the Sierra National Forest; all of which are attractive for a variety of films, commercials and documentaries. Cotton fields and vineyards are popular filming locations in the valley portion of the county; wide expanses of rolling pastures and oak trees depict the foothills while the forests, lakes, waterfalls and streams all reveal the majestic beauty of the High Sierra.

 |
Along with an abundance of interesting site locations, Madera County boasts a substantial lodging base, and easy access to the Southern California film industry.
A variety of projects are filmed every year; adding a substantial revenue stream to Madera County coffers. Recent projects have included films such as "Mouse Hunt" and "Small Soldiers, commercial projects for virtually every automobile and motorcycle manufacturer and documentaries such as "Secret Yosemite" and "Man vs: Wild."
