
Preparation of License Application
| Collection of Business Licenses Fees

The County of Madera maintains a business license ordinance to insure the health, safety and welfare of the residents of Madera County in their transactions with entrepreneurs, and to preserve and enhance the reputation and viability of businesses operating within Madera County. The purchase of a license is required to conduct business within the County. Application documents may be downloaded and must be submitted to and approved by the Resource Management Agency located at 2037 W. Cleveland Ave, Madera. Faxes will not be accepted. A "Business" means any activity,
trade, calling, profession or occupation engaged in by any
person with the object of gaining benefit, profit, or advantage
for anyone and generally applies to a fixed place of business.
A business license must be displayed in a conspicuous place
at all times. Exemptions apply to veterans and entrepreneurs
operating within a city limit and who possess a current
city license, call the Treasurer/Tax Collector for more
information.
A County of Madera business license is valid
for one calendar year, January 1st through December 31st,
for a fee of forty ($40.00) dollars and renewals must be
obtained by January 31st. Licenses issued after October
15th through December 15th are ten ($10.00) dollars and
are valid through December 31st. Licenses issued after December
15th are forty ($40.00) dollars and are valid through the
end of the following calendar year. Applies to all fixed
places of business and businesses who operate outside a
fixed location such as peddlers, solicitors.
Businesses conducting special events such
as rodeos, carnivals, rock concerts, flea markets, races,
dances, minstrel shows, exhibitions, lectures or any other
public exhibition or entertainment which is conducted on
an irregular basis, are also subject to licensure. The fee
is twenty ($20.00) dollars per day, or any fraction thereof,
and may include a special event permit from the Madera County
Sheriff's department.
