What is the County Veterans Service Office?

The CVSO is an office established by the Board of Supervisors
of Madera County to assist every veteran, their dependents and
survivors in presenting and pursuing any claim in establishing
the veteran's right for benefits provided by law.

Purpose
To assist and promote the welfare of all veterans who served
honorably in the Armed Forces of the United States of America.
To assist and promote the welfare of their dependents and survivors.
Benefits
Compensation, pension, veterans home, vocational rehabilitation,
veterans and dependents education, VA Hospital, Cal-Vet home
loans, VA home loans, small business loans, burial benefits,
dependent allowances, death pension, aid and attendance, Tricare
health insurance for retired military, reduced fee for sport
fishing & wildlife pass and Golden Access Pass for U.S. National
Parks, etc.
Assistance
Assistance in requesting military records and medals. Recording
your DD214, filing claims, reopen claims, follow-up of claim
to insure final decision, networking with other organizations,
education benefits, college fee waiver and more.
The Madera County Veterans Service Department provides assistance
to Veterans and Veterans' dependants in the following areas:
- filing for service-connected disability
- filing for pension benefits
- filing for burial benefits
- providing referrals for educational and employment benefits
- filing for survivor benefits
- applying for VA medical care

State Employment Development for Veterans
The primary objective of the Veterans Program is to develop and
support programs that increase opportunities for veterans to
obtain employment and job training in California. Eligible veterans
are entitled to receive priority services in job referrals and
referrals to training by EDD staff, as well as other employment-related
services.
